Half-day forum will take place October 15 as part of Smithers Rapra's Biopolymers Symposium
FALMOUTH, Maine--Smithers Rapra announces the agenda for its first forum on anaerobic digestion. This half-day event will take place on Monday, October 15th in conjunction with the 7th annual Biopolymers Symposium 2012 in San Antonio, TX. The Anaerobic Digestion Forum will explore the role of anaerobic digestion in the bioplastics industry and how its potential will be impacted by policy initiatives, end-of-life initiatives, feedstock supply and many other areas.
By diverting food scraps destined for landfill to an anaerobic digestion facility we can capture the inherent energy now versus 10 years from today.
At the Anaerobic Digestion Forum, attendees will learn the true potential of this technology from key stakeholders and government adopters like BASF; BioFerm Energy; City of Madison, Streets Division; Darby Marketing; ERM; Organic Waste Systems, Inc (OWS); Smithers Pira and the Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence.
There is an increasing interest in anaerobic digestion as a growing part of urban or municipal integrated waste management. The key is to involve commercial stakeholders and educate the public about organics diversion programs as both a sustainability effort and an economic driver, said Forum co-chair Debra Darby, Principal, Darby Marketing.
"We literally throw-away energy every day, added co-chair John Baldus, Sustainable Manufacturing Sector Specialist, Wisconsin Office of Energy Independence. By diverting food scraps destined for landfill to an anaerobic digestion facility we can capture the inherent energy now versus 10 years from today."
Joining Darby and Baldus on the advisory board are Norma McDonald, North America Sales Manager, Organic Waste Systems, Inc (OWS); Joseph Mecca, Senior Consultant, ERM and Amber Blythe, Application Engineer, BioFerm Energy.
The Anaerobic Digestion Forum is part of Biopolymers 2012, scheduled for October 15-17, 2012 in San Antonio, TX. This market leading event brings together the key innovators and decision makers in the bioplastics industry to examine new technologies, market trends, and developments in applications, guidelines and waste strategies for the biopolymers industry.
