DULLES, Va.--Orbital ATK, Inc. (NYSE: OA), a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, announced that through its 2016-2017 United Way campaign, it raised more than $1.1 million. This year’s campaign total includes employee pledges, amounts raised from local fundraisers, cash donations, and a 20 percent matching contribution from the company.
“Orbital ATK is proud to continue our support for United Way agencies that provide critical services to thousands of people in the communities where our employees live and work,” said Blake Larson, Orbital ATK’s Chief Operating Officer. “The United Way focuses on values that are important to Orbital ATK, and we feel it is both a responsibility and a privilege to give back to our communities.”
In addition to financial donations, employees across the company volunteered at local Day of Caring events. In the City of Guadalupe, Arizona, Orbital ATK employees partnered with the United Way Valley of the Sun to paint a mural and make other improvements at a local elementary school. At four locations in Utah, employees painted, landscaped, cleaned and made repairs at community centers and provided activities for children and adults with special needs. Overall, Orbital ATK team members dedicated nearly 700 volunteer hours in their local areas.
Larson praised the many volunteers who organized and participated in on-site fundraisers, activities and events over the last several weeks. “Our employees make a tremendous difference by donating their time to facilitate the campaign and to volunteer in their communities. Their efforts make it possible for families and individuals in need to receive basic services as well as help obtaining education, achieving financial stability and living healthy lives. Orbital ATK truly 'Lives United.'”
