Zekelman Industries (Chicago) has acquired American Tube Manufacturing, Inc. (Birmingham, Alabama) and Western Tube & Conduit Corporation (Long Beach, California). Through these acquisitions, Zekelman Industries will expand their presence into the southeastern region of the United States in the structural tubing market and across the western half of the United States and Canada in the electrical, fence and mechanical tube markets.
General Cable Corporation, one of the largest wire and cable manufacturing companies in the world, plans to expand its operations in Grant County, investing more than $18 million and creating up to 30 new jobs. The Highland Heights, Kentucky-based company will expand and equip its current facility at 440 E. 8th St. in Marion. Construction will add an additional 30,000 square feet and is expected to be complete in October.
KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp. acquired Associated Packaging Inc., a South Carolina-based corrugated packaging and digital production company.
Sanders Pre-Cast Concrete Systems Inc. a designer, manufacturer, and developer of pre-cast concrete plans to expand its operations in Boone County, creating up to 39 new jobs by 2021. The company will invest more than $1.5 million to expand, renovate and equip its current 175,000-square-foot facility at 6142 S. Indianapolis Road in Whitestown.
Whitworth Tool Inc., a manufacturer of precision-machined components for the tool and die industry, plans to invest $3.58 million in its Hardinsburg headquarters, creating 50 full-time jobs. Whitworth’s investment includes building modifications and the purchase and installation of specialized machinery for its precision-machined parts business and tool-and-die services.
Auto glass manufacturer Pilkington North America Inc. plans to invest $7.5 million in technology and manufacturing upgrades at its Versailles facility. Pilkington will buy new equipment to meet current and future customer demands.
Motor City Industrial, LLC (Hazel Park) acquired EMCO, Inc. (Charlotte, North Carolina), which provides electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and automation products to a wide range of industries throughout the Southeast.
XX Inc. has entered into a definitive agreement for Newcor, Inc. (Rochester Hills) to be acquired by CIE Automotive, S.A., a global manufacturer and supplier of automotive components and sub-assemblies. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
RPS America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Riello UPS, opened its North American headquarters in suburban Cincinnati, OH, where it will hold inventory of the Riello UPS product line. Riello UPS offers a wide range of uninterruptible power systems, battery systems, switch gear, and communications interfaces.
Dana Incorporated, which provides highly-engineered solutions for improving the efficiency, performance, and sustainability of powered vehicles and machinery, has completed the acquisition of the power-transmission and fluid power businesses of Brevini Group, S.p.A.
Midland Stamping & Fabricating, a specialty provider of metal stamping and fabricated products, was sold to Speyside Equity. Brown Gibbons Lang & Company served as the exclusive financial advisor to Midland in the transaction.
Ritter Technology, LLC (Zelienople), a distributor of industrial motion and control products, has acquired Primet Fluid Power Company (Hammond, Indiana) to strengthen its ability to provide systems solutions to its customer base in the greater Chicago metropolitan area with a special focus on Northwest Indiana.
Samtec, an Indiana-based manufacturer of a broad line of electronic connectors, has opened a new office in downtown Columbia.The company’s new location is at 1907 Thurmond Mall.
Sundaram-Clayton Ltd., an India-based automotive supplier, will launch its first U.S. operation in Ridgeville, with a $50 million investment. The company produces aluminum cast products and permanent mold gravity cast parts for global automotive manufacturers.
Emerson, a New Jersey-based manufacturer of ASCO fluid automation projects, plans to expand its ASCO operation in Aiken County. The $8 million investment should create 86 new jobs.
Carlstar Group LLC, a manufacturer of specialty wheels and tires, plans to invest $6.9 million to expand its process and production capacity in its existing facility in Aiken County and add 43 jobs. The company makes original equipment and aftermarket specialty tires and wheels for the agriculture, construction, lawn and garden, ATV/UTV and high-speed trailer markets.
Pacific Industrial Development Corp., a Michigan-based specialty chemicals manufacturer, is opening a manufacturing facility in Spartanburg County. The development is projected to bring at least $13 million of capital investment and create 53 new jobs over the next five years.
Kion North America plans to add 50 jobs over the next five years and invest $5.7 million at its Dorchester County operations. The company expects to increase its production capacity from 3,000 units per year in 2015 to 12,000 units per year by 2020.
Automotive seating supplier Lear Corp. plans a $7.7 million expansion at its Spartanburg County facility. The expansion includes adding equipment and upgrading existing infrastructure.
General Motors will invest $37 million and begin production of its Holden Acadia, a right-hand-drive crossover, for export to Australia at its Spring Hill plant. The vehicle will go on sale in the second-half of 2018.
LG Electronics Inc. will build a new home appliance manufacturing facility in Clarksville. The global manufacturer, with headquarters in South Korea, is a leader in appliances, electronics, and mobile devices. LG will invest $250 million in the facility, creating at least 600 new jobs in Montgomery County.
MIG Steel Fabrication, a subsidiary of Manufacturers Industrial Group, will invest $1.5 million in its Lexington operations and create 20 new jobs. MIG is one of the largest manufacturers in Tennessee with approximately 1,800 employees statewide. MIG Steel Fabrication is expanding to meet growing demand in the Southeast for its structural steel and fabricated metals for the industrial and commercial construction industry.
idX Corporation, a supplier of global solutions for retail environments, will invest $7.2 million to establish its Virginia manufacturing operation in Spotsylvania County. The company provides quality millwork, fixtures, décor and graphics to its customers, and offers manufacturing in all materials, including acrylic, glass, laminates, metal, upholstery, veneers, and wood.
Steel Dynamics, one of the largest domestic steel producers and metals recyclers in the United States, will invest $28 million in its Roanoke Bar Division in the City of Roanoke to purchase new equipment and make facility enhancements, including railroad track upgrades, and increasing capacity of its rolling mill operations. Working in partnership with the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP), Steel Dynamics’ 307 existing employees will be retrained to operate the new machinery.
The former power generator housing, wind turbine tower, and pressure vessel manufacturing facility, and real estate holdings of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Canada, Ltd. (MHPSC) located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, are for immediate turnkey sale from Hilco Industrial, Hilco Real Estate Acquisitions and Prestige Equipment Corp.
