Energy management business unit helps building owners reduce operating costs associated with energy and operational expenses
CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--According to a Pike Research Study, the energy management market is forecasted to grow into a $5.6 billion industry by 2020.To meet the growing demand for energy management services for new construction projects and existing buildings alike, Kohrs Lonnemann Heil Engineers (KLH Engineers) has launched a new business unit, KLH Energy Solutions. The unit will focus on optimizing energy efficiency solutions to help architects, developers, and building owners reduce operating expenses.
As one of the largest mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering firms in the Midwest, KLH Engineers has supported its core business with energy efficient practices since the mid-1980s. Through the integration of its engineering and energy management expertise, KLH Energy Solutions will provide a variety of services, including:
Building commissioning and retro-commissioning
Energy Star certification
LEED certification consulting
Rebate and incentive consulting
Performance measurement and verification
The growing trend of energy efficiency legislation across the country coupled with an increase in corporate pressure to reduce operating expenses has boosted demand for commercial energy solution services, and as a result, many organizations have turned to KLH to help improve energy efficiency, said Mark Duffer, President of KLH Energy Solutions. The ability to provide these services outside of the traditional MEP engineering environment has broadened our scope and geographical reach, while opening doors to an entirely new client base.
Committed to growing KLH Energy Solutions into a national-presence, the company hired a team of industry-leading professionals to join the new business unit. Duffer, a 20-year veteran of energy management consulting services, serves as President and oversees the strategic direction, providing managerial support. Duffer previously served in executive positions with other energy management companies and brings a strong track record of entrepreneurial success in managing start-up businesses.
In addition to Duffer, the company brought in Jerry Schmits to lead the business development effort and manage its revenue growth. Schmits has 15 years of experience providing energy management services to national account customers. He also has been involved with start-up ventures, having previously worked in similar capacities for Cadence Network and CBRE's Global Energy & Sustainability Group.
The two will join KLH executive Mohamed El-Sayed as managing partners of the new business unit. El-Sayed has managed the building solutions operations for KLH Engineers since 2009, where he has been responsible for delivering energy efficiency and cost-reduction services to new construction projects and renovations, while optimizing operational performance of existing buildings. He will serve as Director of Operations for KLH Energy Solutions.
The launch of KLH Energy Solutions continues the company's trend of anticipating market demands and the ever-changing needs of building owners. In 1995, KLH Engineers identified an underserved need for communications and information technology (CIT) engineering, and developed that discipline as core service offering.
