ST. LOUIS-- Belden Inc., a global leader in signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications, will be participating in a multi-vendor webinar on Category 8 development for Cabling Installation & Maintenance Magazine, April 9, 2013 at 1pm ET.
The Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA) TR-42 Engineering Committee's decision to move forward with a set of Category 8 specification charts the course for a new performance level of twisted-pair cabling systems. It also provides another potential option for network administrators planning migration to future high-speed transmission rates particularly 40 Gbits/sec. This webinar, hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, provides an update on standards development activity surrounding to Category 8 and how the activity relates not only to the TIA but also to IEEE and ISO/IEC standards efforts.
Paul Kish will be covering the topic of Category 8 interoperability and backward compatibility. A point of some controversy among industry technologists concerning the development of Category 8 is the issue of backward-compatibility with other twisted-pair performance levels developed by other standards-making groups. This presentation takes a just-the-facts approach to addressing this issue.
Key information will include:
- Explaining the twisted-pair performance path the TIA has adopted (i.e. Cat 6, Cat 6A, Cat 8).
- How it differs from that of the ISO/IEC (Class E/Cat 6, Class EA/Cat 6A, Class F/Cat 6, Class FA/Cat 7A).
- Differences into perspective as they relate to the practical implementation of a future Category 8 cabling system.
- Explaining the backward-compatibility status of Category 8 as it concerns previous-generation transmission methods (e.g. 10GBase-T, 1000Base-T, etc.).
