PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a leading global technology distributor, today announced that registration is now open for a series of SpeedWay Design Workshops , centered around Avnet s new KickStart Kit featuring Microsemi Corporation s SmartFusion2 system-on-chip (SoC) field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The workshops will focus on the unique features of SmartFusion2 flash-based devices, which include an ARM Cortex -M3 CPU and programmable logic, USB interface with a PC GUI and Bluetooth low energy with an Android app.
These SpeedWay Design Workshops are designed to provide the tools, training and support designers need to leverage the many benefits of the SmartFusion2 technology and to streamline development of innovative, high-performance and secure IoT-enabled products.
During Avnet s full-day SpeedWay Design Workshops, technical experts from both Avnet and Microsemi will provide attendees with a mixture of lecture and hands-on labs covering the development flow of the SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs using Avnet s newly-introduced SmartFusion2 KickStart Kit. Microsemi s SmartFusion2 SoC FPGAs address fundamental requirements for advanced security, high reliability and low power in critical industrial, military, aviation, communications and medical applications.
SmartFusion2 SpeedWay attendees will be introduced to techniques to use the Libero 11.6 tools to build an HDL design for SmartFusion2 s programmable logic as well as instruction on how to compile a C code design for the ARM Cortex-M3 in the SmartFusion2 using SoftConsole 4.0. By the end of the day, attendees should understand the basic design flow for SmartFusion2 and be familiar with key functionality of the KickStart evaluation board, including: the SmartFusion2, USB, BLE, sensors, PMODs and Arduino Shield expansion.
The unique design of the SmartFusion2 SoC FPGA - mixing a hardened MCU block and FPGA on a single die enables designers to maximize the functional resources common to many systems in minimal silicon space. At the same time, the FPGA fabric and firmware provide a great deal of flexibility for design customization, said Stefan Rousseau, senior technical marketing engineer for Avnet. These SpeedWay Design Workshops are designed to provide the tools, training and support designers need to leverage the many benefits of the SmartFusion2 technology and to streamline development of innovative, high-performance and secure IoT-enabled products.
The SpeedWay workshops will be held in the following cities:
- Irvine, CA: 11/3/15
- Woodland Hills, CA: 11/5/15
- San Jose, CA: 11/10/15
