CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Society of Safety Engineers, the world s oldest professional safety society, is proud to bring SAFETY INDIA 2015, a two-day professional development conference and exposition, to Mumbai, India on October 15-17, 2015.
Such unprecedented economic growth gives India a chance to show the world how the country s political, business and civic leaders will join together to make safety a priority in completing and maintaining these projects
Building on its success last year, SAFETY INDIA 2015 will attract safety practitioners from a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, oil and gas, automotive and many others. ASSE is proud to have Underwriters Laboratories as its platinum sponsor.
With India s Finance Ministry announcing in February that the country s economy could grow by 8.5 percent this fiscal year, it s imperative that safety professionals come up to speed from every industry and sharpen their skills, so they are ready to tackle the projects such explosive growth brings and value to the organization they represent, said SAFETY INDIA 2015 Organizing Committee Chair Suresh Tanwar, Chief Group Safety & Health (Tata Group).
According to the World Bank, more than 10 million citizens will be moving into urban areas for jobs each year, making it one of the largest migrations in this young century. That will require new roads, the expansion of cities and manufacturing areas, as well as housing, said ASSE President Trish Ennis.
Such unprecedented economic growth gives India a chance to show the world how the country s political, business and civic leaders will join together to make safety a priority in completing and maintaining these projects, Ennis said.
Since ASSE opened its first India chapter in March 2012, membership has grown dramatically; adding three new chapters in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states and driving the need for delivering valuable membership services locally. ASSE s first professional development conference took place in Chennai in spring 2014, bringing together a global community of safety experts. The next conference, to be held in the fall of 2015 in Mumbai, is expected to attract hundreds of participants and numerous exhibitors from India, Asia, North America and Europe.
