Projects Invigorate Regional Economies, Generate Jobs for Ohioans
Expected To Create 2,765 Jobs and Retain 17,565 Positions, Will Receive More Than $9.2 Million in Economic Development Grants

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio businesses and communities will receive more than $9.2 million in economic development grants to aid economic growth leveraging nearly $28 million. The State Controlling Board today approved grants administered by the Ohio Department of Development which are expected to create 2,765 jobs and retain 17,565 positions.

Eddie Bauer, LLC will receive a $75,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s expansion project in the Village of Groveport (Franklin County). In addition to the machinery and equipment acquired, the company will renovate and continue the lease of its existing 2.2 million-square-foot warehouse and distribution facility. Established in 1920, Eddie Bauer specializes in outerwear, apparel, and accessories for an active outdoor lifestyle. The more than $411,000 project is expected to create 325 jobs and retain 352 positions.



Engineering Mechanics Corporation of Columbus (EMCC) will receive a $20,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s expansion project in the City of Upper Arlington (Franklin County). In addition to the machinery and equipment acquired, the company will add 5,600 square feet to its existing mechanical testing lab facility, which will include a high bay area to accept large samples. Engineering Mechanics Corporation of Columbus specializes in structural analysis of systems and components made of metals, plastics, composites, and other engineered materials used in joining processes. The $150,000 project is expected to create 10 jobs and retain 12 positions.

GENCO I, Inc. will receive a $60,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s expansion project in the Village of Groveport (Franklin County). In addition to the machinery and equipment acquired, the company will lease and renovate a 410,000-square-foot building, housing the distribution center operation. GENCO is a third-party logistics provider and a leader in supply-chain management, providing a range of value-added supply chain solutions. The $3.5 million project is expected to create 80 jobs.

JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association will receive a $1.15 million Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s expansion project at multiple sites in the City of Columbus (Franklin County) and the City of Westerville (Delaware County). In addition to the machinery and equipment acquired, the company will expand five existing Chase facilities and add machinery and equipment to five proposed facilities. Chase is a bank holding company founded in 1823 which provides financial services worldwide operating in six segments including investment banking, commercial banking, treasury and securities services, asset management, retail financial services, and card services. The more than $14 million project is expected to create 1,150 jobs and retain 14,013 positions.



La Senza, Inc. will receive a $100,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for costs associated with building improvements in support of the company’s project in the City of Columbus (Franklin County). In addition to the building improvement project, the company will redevelop an existing Limited Brands, Inc. facility to house the corporate headquarters. La Senza is a specialty retailer of women’s lingerie and apparel, operating in more than 320 stores throughout Canada. The more than $551,000 project is expected to create 80 jobs.

NGL Warehouse, LLC will receive a $15,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for costs associated with leasehold improvements in support of the company’s project in the Village of Lockbourne (Franklin County). In addition to the leasehold improvement project, the company will lease a facility that will serve as a distribution center for a web-based shoe retailer, which NGL will receive, store, ship, and process returns on their behalf. NGL is a provider of integrated logistics and supply chain solutions, including contract logistics, warehousing, service parts logistics, e-commerce order fulfillment, distribution, and transportation. The $850,000 project is expected to create 31 jobs and retain 45 positions.

NH Acquisition Corp. will receive a $25,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s expansion project in the City of Norwalk (Huron County). In addition to the machinery and equipment acquired, the company will expand an existing 68,000-square-foot building to house a new English muffin production line. NH Acquisition is the owner of New Horizons Baking company, Genesis Baking Company, and Metraco Transportation, which combined manufacture, package, and distribute bakery products. The more than $8 million project is expected to create 25 jobs and retain 151 positions.



The Miller Cabinet Company, LLC will receive a $40,000 Rapid Outreach Grant for the costs associated with the acquisition of new machinery and equipment in support of the company’s project in Jerome Township (Union County). In addition to acquiring new machinery and equipment, the company will centrally locate the manufacturing operation of a custom cabinet and granite countertop operation. Founded in 1945, Miller Cabinet specializes in custom and commercial cabinetry, stone countertop fabrication, tile sales and installation, and free-standing furniture. The $525,000 project is expected to create 53 jobs and retain 27 positions.

The Adams County Commissioners will receive a $358,879 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of General Electric Company’s project in Franklin Township (Adams County). The public roadwork improvements include the installation of turn lanes and traffic lights at the intersection of State Route 73 and Jaybird Road.

The Carroll County Commissioners will receive a $225,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of the project in the Village of Magnolia (Carroll County). The public roadwork upgrades include improvements to a 3,000-square-foot truck pull-off, as well as the reconstruction of Imperial Road, which connects to State Route 542.

The City of Canton will receive a $250,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in the City of Canton (Stark County). The public roadwork improvements include the reconstruction of Mahoning Road from Harmont Avenue to Grace Avenue, as well as the replacement of storm drainage, sidewalk, handicap accessibility, and signal upgrades. The more than $5.9 million project is expected to assist in the retention of 2,000 positions.



The City of Cincinnati will receive a $300,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of Medpace Inc.’s expansion project in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton County). The public roadwork improvements include the construction of a new roadway at the southeast corner of Madison Road and Red Bank Expressway, as well as the construction of a new building. The project is expected to assist in the creation of 792 jobs and the retention of 508 positions.

The City of Dayton will receive a $950,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of the Ohio Aerospace Hub project in the City of Dayton (Montgomery County). The public roadwork improvements include the reconstruction of Brown Street between Irving Avenue to Wyoming Street to create a mixed-use corridor to enhance access.

The City of Maple Heights will receive a $500,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of the Pennsylvania and Granite Industrial Area Reconstruction project in the City of Maple Heights (Cuyahoga County). The public roadwork improvements will advance the capacity, safety, and operational aspects of the industrial area.

The City of Troy will receive a $510,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of ConAgra Foods, LLC’s expansion project in the City of Troy (Miami County). The public roadwork improvement involves the repaving and widening of Dye Mill Road/County Road 227 and adding a 1,200-foot turning lane at ConAgra’s property. The project is expected to assist in the creation of 191 jobs and the retention of 457 positions.



The City of Wapakoneta will receive a $450,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in the City of Wapakoneta (Auglaize County). The public roadwork improvements include the construction of a new north-south access road into the city’s Ohio Job Ready Site, connecting Commerce Drive and Short Road.

The Community Improvement Corporation of Springfield and Clark County Ohio (CICSCO) will receive a $600,000 Roadwork Development Grant for costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in Springfield Township (Clark County). The project involves the installation of infrastructure to provide shovel-ready sites at the PrimeOhio II Corporate Park.

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners will receive a $486,468 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in the City of Cincinnati (Hamilton County). The more than $27 million project involves the development of 16 acres on eight blocks along the Cincinnati riverfront consisting of new residential, retail, and office buildings built above a two-story intermodal transit and parking structure.

The Mercer County Commissioners will receive a $200,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the completion of public roadwork improvements in Jefferson Township (Mercer County). The public roadwork improvement includes the reconstruction of the intersection of State Route 29 and Staeger Road and is expected to spur future development within the industrial park.

The Ohio Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Center will receive a $457,375 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in the City of Lima (Allen County). The public roadwork improvements involve the construction of a new roadway within the city’s Ohio Job Ready Site program site located on South Main Street. The Ohio Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Center will build a 20,000-square-foot incubator that will initially house a flexible fabrication and robotic assembly demonstration project.



The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) will receive a $227,494 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in Jackson and Pleasant Townships (Franklin County). The roadwork improvement project of Young Road will serve a dual purpose by providing access to SWACO’s Green Energy Center and the west side of the landfill.

The Village of New Albany will receive a $250,000 Roadwork Development Grant for the costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of TJX Companies’ project in the Village of New Albany (Franklin County). The public roadwork improvements include the extension of Souder Road, the acquisition of a 60-foot right-of-way, and the construction of a paved road. The project is expected to assist in the creation of 28 jobs.

The Village of New Albany will receive a $2 million Roadwork Development Grant for costs associated with the completion of public roadwork improvements in support of future development in the area near the New Albany Business Park in the Village of New Albany (Franklin County). The public roadwork improvements include the widening of Beech Road and the construction of an internal roadway within Innovation Campus IV.
