FLINT, Mich.--Kettering University in Flint has once again been named a “Best Midwestern College” by The Princeton Review.
Robert Franek, Princeton Review's senior vice president - publisher, said The Princeton Review looked at hundreds of institutions in four regions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West. “We selected these colleges and universities primarily for their excellent academic programs,” Franek said. “We also took into account what students attending the schools reported to us about their campus experiences at them on our student survey for this project. Our ‘regional best' colleges constitute only 25 percent of the nation's four-year colleges – a select group, indeed,” he added.
Kettering student Amber Coe, a senior from Libertyville, Iowa, who is majoring in Industrial Engineering and Business Administration, said it is important to earn designations like this one. “Kettering is a small school, so when you can pull out rankings that say the University has been on this list for nine years it is something that people can relate to and realize how impressive this place really is,” she said.
The 153 colleges that The Princeton Review chose for its "Best in the Midwest" list are located in 12 states: Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The Princeton Review also designated 222 colleges in the Northeast, 122 in the West, and 136 in the Southeast as best in their locales on the company's "2013 Best Colleges: Region by Region" lists.
