Auto Components Manufacturer, Morris Manufacturing to Expand Indiana Operations
Investing More Than $1.2 Million to Construct An Additional 40,500 Square Feet of Production Space, 82 New Jobs

Brazil, Indiana-- Morris Manufacturing and Sales Corporation, an automotive components manufacturer, will expand its manufacturing operations here, creating up to 82 new jobs by 2011.

The company, which manufactures powertrain components for original equipment manufacturers, will invest more than $1.2 million to construct an additional 40,500 square feet of production space at its Brazil operations. Morris Manufacturing is also in negotiations for additional contracts which include powertrain components for electric and hybrid vehicles which would require an additional $7.9 million investment in equipment and building space.

Morris Manufacturing, which employs nearly 150 associates, plans to continue hiring manufacturing associates as facility improvements are made at its Brazil headquarters. The company has currently filled its existing capacity and requires the additional production space to house recent contracts. Production is scheduled to begin in the new addition by the third quarter of 2010.

"Morris Manufacturing has strategically positioned itself to take full advantage of the recent consolidation of automotive supply base through our team's focus on state-of-the-art technology in our processes.  This competitive edge is the key to our growth," said Michael Morris, president of Morris Manufacturing and Sales Corporation. "We are pleased to provide further investment and jobs in Brazil. The state and local governments have been very supportive of our efforts to do this, and for that we are greatly appreciative."

Founded in 1962 as an equipment repair center for local farmers, Morris Manufacturing got its start working out of a 2,400 square-foot shop. Today, contracts with major automotive manufacturers have allowed the company to expand to operate out of more than 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Morris Manufacturing is in its fourth generation of family ownership.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Morris Manufacturing up to $250,000 in performance-based tax credits and $20,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. The city of Brazil will consider additional property tax abatement.

Morris Manufacturing is a global supplier of high-precision, close-tolerance, machined metal parts for the automotive industry. A fourth generation, family-owned enterprise, Morris Manufacturing operates out of 61,356 square feet of manufacturing space at its Brazil, Ind. headquarters.
