HOUSTON--Quantum International Corp. (OTCBB: QUAN) has begun due diligence toward a definitive agreement with the prestigious Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) in Warsaw, Poland—and the company is already impressed by what it has found.
One promising area of research that PIAP is pursuing is robotics designed for anti-terrorist and law-enforcement use. PIAP is the only producer of high-quality mobile counter-terrorism robots in Poland, and has been a permanent supplier of mobile robots for the country's special forces since 2000.
In addition to many other designs, PIAP has recently produced new breakthroughs such as the Tactical Throwable Robot (TRM), a small robotic device designed for anti-terrorist applications. The TRM is composed of a pipe-shaped body which houses a camera and a microphone. It can be thrown into a structure or into an area of operation from a significant distance and steered by remote control in order to perform area reconnaissance, inspection and explosives neutralization. It's even designed to withstand impact when dropped from a high altitude.
“The TRM is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to PIAP's robotics breakthroughs,” Federowicz said. “We look forward to learning more about all of the institute's current projects and we plan to begin negotiating an agreement very soon.”
