LOUISVILLE, Ky.--()--Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc. (“Momentive Specialty Chemicals” or the “Company”) announced that its Louisville facility recently became “idle free.” Momentive's idle free initiative is in cooperation with the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District and its outreach and education program, Kentuckiana Air Education (KAIRE).

The average truck driver wastes at least $70 per year just sitting still with the engine idling, according to KAIRE. Unnecessary idling also contributes to air pollution, which makes it difficult for children and adults with breathing problems.

For example, Momentive's plant policy now requests that drivers do not let their vehicle engines idle for more than 10 seconds while on facility grounds. This commitment is part of the Company's overall sustainability initiatives focused on fostering sound environmental and business practices.
