Washington, DC, -- National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons issued the following statement after the National Labor Relations Board “ambush elections” rule, expediting the unionization election process, went into effect today.
“Instead of working to create jobs in the United States, the NLRB is working to create tensions between employers and employees. Today employers are living under new and unfair rules set by the NLRB. These changed rules overturn 75 years of labor policy and unnecessarily upset workplace relations – leaving employers without adequate preparation time before an election and forcing employees to make an important decision without all the information at hand.
For the benefit of both job creators and the 12 million people working in manufacturing in the U.S., the NAM will vigorously pursue all avenues to overturn this rule. Manufacturers will continue to fight every aspect of this Board's overreach and work toward a regulatory environment that fosters economic growth and job creation.”
