U.S. Department of State Awards Accenture Task Orders to Improve Procurement Process and Provide Management Support

ARLINGTON, Va.--The U.S. Department of State (DOS) has awarded eight task orders to Accenture Federal Services to enhance the Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS) that provides materials and services to its global workforce.

Accenture will enhance ILMS capabilities for diplomatic mail services, system support to DOS procurement inventory and warehouse management and overall asset management. The work will increase supply chain efficiencies for the department and provide greater visibility into the delivery of goods and services to Americans worldwide.

To execute the program, Accenture is providing operations and maintenance support and round-the-clock customer support to more than 20,000 system users at 260 embassies and consulates around the world. ILMS supply chain management support includes fleet management, global inventory optimization analysis and warehouse management support.

The ILMS program recently was recognized as an industry best practice. The American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC) honored the State Department and ILMS last week with two Excellence.gov awards, recognizing exceptional government programs and projects that use information technology in an innovative way to improve services to citizens, enhance government operations and provide a more open and transparent government. ILMS received the Excellence in Enterprise Efficiencies award and was named the Overall Winner for 2012.

The State Department also awarded Accenture procurement work from the Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs that includes providing procurement system support for all system users domestically and overseas. The contract supports the State Department's goal of increasing efficiencies in the purchase and delivery of goods and services.

“Accenture is leveraging its global expertise in commercial and government supply chain best practices to help the State Department serve employees and citizens around the world,” said Amy Tener, Accenture senior executive who leads the work at the department. “Working closely with State for the past 12 years, we have successfully implemented an integrated supply chain system supporting best practices across the globe. Together, our work has resulted in improved customer service and increased supply chain efficiency.”
