Alcoa Foundation Launches Global Engagement Program to Support Employee Wellness and Local Communities

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alcoa (NYSE:AA) leadership from across the world, including Alcoa Chairman and CEO Klaus Kleinfeld, kicked off a new global employee engagement program in Pittsburgh yesterday and raised $17,000 for charity in the process.

“Alcoans in Motion provides a unique opportunity for our employees and their friends and families to contribute to nonprofit organizations that are important to them while engaging in healthy activities. This year, our goal is to have 100 events in more than 20 countries.”

Called Alcoans in Motion, the program supports employees who join in group physical activities for charity. Kleinfeld and other senior leaders participated in a bowl-a-thon at Legacy Lanes in the South Hills, where winning teams selected charities from key Alcoa regions around the world to receive grants from Alcoa Foundation. The 250 employees joined efforts and gave away a total of $17,000 to local and national organizations focused on workforce development, education and the environment.
