(Fort Wayne, Indiana) -- Auto parts supplier Johnson Controls, Inc. (NYSE: JCI) plans to add new equipment to its 8710 Indianapolis Road location in Fort Wayne.
The company is expected to invest $4.2 million in the project, which is slated to be done in two phases and completed in June 2010, according to a news release from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
The Fort Wayne location has been in operation since 1999, and specializes in the production of vehicle, truck, motorcycle and other equipment batteries. The project consists of the replacement of waterbath tables that are used to charge the batteries. Phase one of the project replaced six waterbath tables with a cost of $1.9 million. Phase two will replace seven waterbath tables at a cost of $2.3 million.
Johnson Controls has 140,000 employees in more than 1,300 locations serving customers in 125 countries. Founded in 1885, the company is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
